The Old Testament law laid out capital punishment for those who practiced sorcery. (Exodus 22:18) Several times in the Bible, those who consulted the occult rather than relying on the power of God found help neither from God nor from witchcraft. Indeed. God destroyed Israel because its people consulted other gods and worshiped demonic powers. God wants each person to trust solely in Him. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
