Children's Ministry

The Children’s Ministry of Southside Baptist Church exists to provide a spiritual foundation for children that are currently in first through fifth grade. Children are taught about God through an age graded, hands-on Bible study (Sunday School) coupled with learning activities that reinforce the weekly lesson. On Sunday nights, we have created Crosswalk. Crosswalk has a special blend of music (choir, hand-bells and chimes) and Bible study that emphasizes the need to become more Christ-like. Wednesday nights is our missions night. Mission work, both here and abroad, is our focus, we learn how we can be on mission even here in Southside, Alabama. We cherish the moments that we have teaching children about Jesus Christ. Laying a spiritual foundation and Biblical worldview is a task that we take very seriously. We look forward to telling your child about Jesus.

We sure could some more volunteers to help us reach the children at the elementary school for Jesus Christ. We will meet once a week for and hour and a half. Autism Support and Respite Program
Perhaps one of the more rapidly growing disorders facing children today is the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD.) Research indicates that as many as one child per every one hundred-fifty children will be diagnosed with some form of this disorder. The good news is that therapy and research is making a dent in helping autistic children and their families. What else can be done? You and I, as a church family, can come together to support the families of autistic children. During the past couple of months, I have met with some parents of autistic children and attended a meeting on how we as a church can help the families of ASD in our community. What we can do is offer support. By offering meeting space and folks to become trained to watch and care for the children while parents of the children either meet or go out for a parents night out we can assist families who deal with ASD. It is simple. All you need to help is love and willingness. We need 8 – 10 people to start. Please see me so that we can make this dream come true.
